Jakarta. Indonesian comedian Jojon, the mustachioed star of films like “Apa Ini, Apa Itu,” died of a heart attack on Thursday morning, his wife said. He was 66 years old.
“Jojon passed away at 6:10 a.m. from a heart attack,” is wife Henny said.
The comedian, whose real name was Djuhri Masdjan, began his career in the 1960s as part of the popular Jayakarta comedy troupe. He later went solo, starring in several films and as a regular on comedic television shows, including “Sahur Bareng Yuk” (SBY) — an early morning comedy show that runs during the holy month of Ramadan.
Jojon was known for his iconic Charlie Chaplin-like toothbrush mustache.
His body is currently being housed at Ramsey Premier Jatinegara Hospital, in East Jakarta. He will be moved to a funeral home in Sentul, Bogor and buried at the Kebon Pedes Cemetery, in Bogor. The Jakarta Globe
