Several people were feared dead after a train crashed into a vehicle reported to be a gas tanker at a level crossing on Monday morning, causing at least one carriage to overturn and burst into flames.

Commuter Line, a subsidiary of state-owned train company Kereta Api Indonesia, said four people had died in the crash.

“The train driver died, and the identities of three others are not yet known,” Commuter Line (KCJ) spokeswoman Eva Chairunnisa said.

A statement from NTMC Polri said firefighters were still trying to extinguish the blaze at 12:30 p.m. JG
